Our Dedicated volunteers are the eyes and ears of Meals on Wheels PLUS. They are a vital link to our program's success because of their daily, personal contact with clients. Volunteers provide a helping hand in numerous ways. Described here are a few of the ways volunteers can help make a difference. *Click here for a printable PDF Volunteer Opportunities brochure.
Home DeliveryMeals on Wheels PLUS depends solely upon its volunteers to deliver daily meals. Delivering meals only requires 1½ hours, one day per week. If a specific area is desired, routes are conveniently available throughout Manatee County and several options are available for meal pickups. We have routes available each day. Mileage can be reimbursed.
Your time and talents are needed at our Friendship Dining Centers, where seniors gather each weekday morning to exercise, enjoy entertainment, learn arts & crafts and enjoy a hot noon-time meal. Your participation is needed at the Friendship Dining location closest to you!
Adult Day Center ProgramMeals on Wheels PLUS Adult Day Center serves Manatee County functionally impaired adults with a planned program that includes a variety of health, social and supportive services in a protective setting during daytime hours. Volunteers assist the professionally trained staff, including an RN, who operate the program's daily activities.
Volunteers assist in preparing food baskets for babies and needy families in our area. Several volunteers are also needed to help sort donated food.
Do you have an hour or two to spare each week to volunteer in our main office? If you enjoy office work, we would greatly appreciate your help!
Adopt-A-Route program is an opportunity for area businesses to give back to the community. Year round or seasonal routes are available in areas near your business and options are available for meal pickups.
Join us for special fund raising events throughout the year to benefit Meals on Wheels PLUS. Your school, club, business or organization can become involved. Call us to find out what is coming up next!
