The mission of Meals on Wheels PLUS
of Manatee, Inc. is to assist individuals to live
independently by providing nutrition and caring
supportive services.
In 1972, Meals on Wheels of Manatee, Inc. was founded
with one purpose in mind - to provide hot, nutritious
noontime meals to elderly and disabled residents
of Manatee County.
Over the years Meals
on Wheels PLUS has
responded with the necessary services to support this growth. Meals
on Wheels PLUS supports national, state and local
organizations including Florida Council on Aging,
Florida Association of Service Providers, Second
Harvest, Florida Association of Senior Nutrition
Programs, Florida Association of Food Banks, Florida
Adult Day Care Association, National Association
of Nutrition for Aging Service Providers, and Meals on Wheels Association of America.

Over 60 percent of the Meals on Wheels PLUS funds
must be raised through the support of local donations,
grants, and fund raising projects.

The program receives operating funds from a variety
of sources including individuals, local and federal
governments, civic, religious, and fraternal
organizations.
