All Home-Delivered and Friendship
Dining Centers meals are prepared daily in the Meals
on
Wheels PLUS
kitchen, provide 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance
(RDA) and are approved by a licensed nutritionist.
Special meals are available for the liberal diabetic
and the mild, sodium restricted diet with a physician's
order.
Home Delivered Meals
Hot home-delivered meals are available for homebound
persons and/or disabled individuals.
Prospective clients must meet one or more of the
following guidelines:

Friendship Dining Centers
The Friendship Dining Program
invites those 60 and older who are seeking companionship,
activities and
a hot, nutritious meal. Centers are conveniently
located throughout Manatee County and are open Monday
through Friday except holidays.
In some instances, transportation can be provided.
Guests are invited to participate in any or all
of the following services provided at these centers:

Recreational
activities including films, field trips, art and
music
|
|
|
Health monitoring (blood
pressure and vital sign screening, weight
monitoring, etc.)
|
|
|
Nutrition education
|
|
|
Prescription monitoring (a
pharmacist reviews prescriptions for expiration,
drugs that should not be combined, etc.)
|
|
|
Holiday celebrations |
Friendship Dining Centers are located throughout
Manatee County. Call for the Center location nearest
you.
Transportation
Thanks to federal and local funding,
Meals on Wheels PLUS is able to provide selected
transportation service
to qualified applicants as follows:
